From Smoke to Safety: How a Simple Stove Brought a Fresh Breath of Air in Lamu County

Ms Lucy Kanana, 29, from Mokowe, Lamu county usually started off her morning with loud irritating coughs. This happened every time she lit her charcoal jiko to prepare breakfast. But that has turned into a happy sojourn ever since she acquired Jikokoa,  an improved charcoal jiko.

The KOSAP Facilities Manager has received requests from various companies to assist them in finding partners/collaborators to enable them to enhance their supply chain arrangements and product delivery mechanisms.

In response, the Facilities Manager hereby avails a platform to enable importers, distributors, retailers, last-mile entrepreneurs, and financial institutions to find one another.

The KOSAP Clean Cooking Solutions Results-Based Financing (CCS RBF Facility) will award a total of US $ 5 million (in Kenya Shillings) to actors in the supply chain of clean cookstoves and fuels.

The facility will provide different methods of financial support for the effectuation of business plans and sales by manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers and last-mile distributors, to enable them to enter into business in targeted counties.

KOSAP Component 2 is managed by SNV Netherlands Development Organisation (SNV) as the lead for all the KOSAP Facilities, in partnership with SunFunder, for the deployment of the Debt Facility.

SNV is a not-for-profit international development organization. Founded in the Netherlands in 1965, SNV has built a long-term, local presence in over 30 countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America, with a diverse team of 1,220 specialists and generalists.

The KOSAP Solar Service Providers Results-Based Financing (SSP RBF Facility) will award a total of US $12 million.

The KOSAP Solar Service Providers Results-Based Financing (SSP RBF Facility) will award a total of US $12 million (in Kenya Shillings) in financing to compensate solar home systems service providers (SSPs) for initial, ongoing incremental, and opportunity costs associated with an expansion of operations in the KOSAP Service Territories (KSTs)

Steering Committee: This is the highest decision making body for the project.

The KOSAP Solar Service Providers Debt Facility will manage a total of US $30 Million in KES to support ongoing solar operator growth in the Kosap Serviced Territories, specifically targeting working capital constraints associated with getting hardware inventory to market and with providing consumer financing to end customers.
